Issue #31: Nap Time

All quiet on the western, eastern, northern, and southern front. But Thrik got his Xbox back, so there is that.

The Editor Welcomes You

You’ll be pleased to know that my Xbox has returned from Germany. There’s no sign that they’ve done anything more than give it a good slapping on the side — like I used to back when my CRT monitor was misbehaving — but it’s up and running for the time being. And why is that important, you ask?

That’s right. Game Pass. It feels like I’m getting Return to Monkey Island for free, even if I’m not. And heck, I’ve already bought it for Switch and PC, with the collectible boxed edition only being a matter of time. I’m allowed this indulgence.

I’ll be seeing how this beauty looks in 4K resolution tonight if I can squeeze it in between the vicious Worms Armageddon matches that some of the Mojo staff have been enjoying recently. It’s just like when we used to do this 20 years ago, except our roping reflexes have universally declined, and Sam & Max: Freelance Police is no longer the hot topic of the day.

Thrik: Getting Mojo ready for #hardcore mode.

What’s Happenin’?

As it seems, not a whole lot this week. Probably the biggest news for many is the imminent release of Return to Monkey Island on GOG. It will be available for the same computer platforms as on Steam—Mac, Linux, and Windows—though is still listed as “coming soon.”

Meanwhile, a 1997 prototype of Grim Fandango has appeared in Zuckerberg’s metaverse.

Social media is going great!

Speaking of, did you know Mojo was on Mastodon? Right here: @mixnmojo@idlethumbs.social. Granted, I’m not sold on the whole Mastodon thing—as it is, I doubt it’ll become anything more than what it currently is. It’s not particularly intuitive or practical. Your best bet for everything Mojo is to read our website like it’s 2003 and keep enjoying this newsletter.

And that’s about it. 🤷‍♀️ You’ll be glad to know Mojo has some forthcoming features, but for now, we rest our weary bones after the way-too-active ReMI build-up.

Last Week’s Mojole Results

  • 11 Nov: “boxer” – Hurley does some boxing in Grim.

  • 12 Nov: “jack#” – Jack Sparrow: Referenced in Return to Monkey Island.

  • 13 Nov: “play#” – ... Station. ReMI is hitting the PS5!

  • 14 Nov: “xbox#” – ReMI is hitting the Xbox!

  • 15 Nov: “captn” – Capt'n. Captain. It just makes sense.

  • 16 Nov: “penal” – The Penal Zone: An on-the-nose episode name from The Devil's Playhouse.

  • 17 Nov: “mole#” – There are many molemen in Sam & Max.

Play Mojole, the game that sweeps the nation!
