Issue #42: Old Is the New New
Sure, the forums are down, but you’re used to Mojo downtimes, so no biggie, right?
Yes, we are aware. The most important social hub on the internet is dead. But, our best technicians (Zaarin) are on the case, and the Forums should hopefully be running smoothly again soon.
Meanwhile
We’ve published our Return to Monkey Island retrospective, a spoiler-filled look-back seven months and five playthroughs after its release. Another spoiler alert: The game more than holds up. Give it a read—you’ll find some secrets strewn inside there, too.
And speaking of retrospectives: The Broken Age Kickstarter turns ten, and Double Fine reminisces about those old days.
Back at Mojo, Jason lovingly restored telarium’s 2002 Monkey Island coupon article. If you have a coupon, you should try to attempt this in 2023.
Finally, while you’d think we’d take a long nap after publishing a new feature, The Adventurer has gotten word that two new Mojo articles are in the pipeline. (This isn’t as much of a teaser as it’s a way to shame the authors into finishing the jobs.)
Mojoers Have Things to Say
And we have a place to say it—shameless self-promotion ahead.
First, Thrik—the chairman of the board—launched the inaugural issue of Insert Disk 64 with “Digital game stores — need they die?” If you enjoy video games, subscribing to his newsletter is a no-brainer.
Meanwhile, yours truly has toiled on The Awesomeness Digest for nearly a year and a half. While not about gaming, it is tailor-made for those with fine taste, which undoubtedly includes you. Read the latest post, “Hot Wings, Part Deux: The Air Fryer Investigation,“ and then subscribe like the epicurean we know you are.
