That’s right, Xbox Australia has sent Psychonauts fans down the rabbit hole with a single tweet:

Tweet says: "WHAT DOES IT MEAN?? no seriously someone help us out" and shows tic-tac-toe that says "PSYCHOXXX"
Substack wouldn’t let me embed the tweet, which likely is proof of… the cover-up!!

That tic-tac-toe puzzle ends up spelling out “PSYCHOXXX” which, for some reason, people read as “wink-wink, nudge-nudge, Psychonauts 3 is on its way.”

Setting aside that Mojo has a history of wrongly poopooing any and all rumors, I’m having a hard time seeing this one coming true. XXX? Had it been III, then sure. And had Psychonauts turned 30 anytime soon, then maybe. (For the record, it was released 18 years ago, on April 19th to be exact.) But, PSYCHO XXX? I’d like to see another Psychonauts game as much as the next [insert pronoun here], but I very much doubt this is it. Why would it even be revealed by Xbox Australia? Feel free to speculate over at our forums—if nothing else, you’ll learn that tic-tac-toe is known as “naughts and crosses” in other parts of the world.

Of course… Are the Xs—the crosses—supposed to be replaced with the naughts? PSYCHOXXX → Psycho✝✝✝ → Psychonaughts → Psychonauts? Put on your tinfoil hat.

(If there was an actual caveat, it is worth noting there’s an Xbox showcase on June 11th.)

In other news, Jason insists on posting more Indy updates. It likely fills the hole in his heart once occupied by Willow.

And speaking of things that may or may not have passed their expiration dates: Did you know Mojo turned 25? Our first—and possibly last, who can say?—piece of celebration is a look back at some of our favorite articles. Staffers old and new and retired take their picks, just so you can feel as old as we do.

That’s all for now: We’ll be back with exclusive Psychonauts 3 news soon
