The Adventurer - Issue #17
It’s The Adventurer: Every week, we send an email full of news, media, and who-knows-what (we don’t) – make sure to share all the fun with your friends and loved ones!
The Editor Welcomes You
After a few weeks off we’ve returned, and so has the infernal weather that left me dribbling into every nook and cranny of my keyboard the last time we spoke. I have a baby screeching in fury at the undesirable conditions in her bedroom, and I’ve been trying to win the spitting contest for two hours.
A lot has happened since our last edition, so this should be an exciting newsletter if you haven’t had your finger on the pulse. I’ll let Remi take over before my fingers melt off like butter in a hot pan.
#MonkeyIslandMondayFriday
LeChuck has a voice, y'all, as Ronzo revealed on Monday.
As mentioned in our news post, our favorite villain is voiced by Jess Harnell. The actor is known for high profile roles like Wakko in Animaniacs, but has also had multiple roles in The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition and Escape from Monkey Island. In fact, we can assume he will reprise his role as "Pirate Leader I" in ReMI, too.
Worth noticing in the teaser is that one of the new pirate leaders is hanging out with LeChuck's crew and Bob is hanging from the rafters. And the LeChuck theme? Very LeChuck's Revenge-y.
Even More News
Nintendo either dropped the ball or picked it up (depending on your point of view) and revealed that ReMI would retail for a cool $25. That's $20 less than the most you should pay for a computer game, according to The Secret of Monkey Island, when inflation is taken into consideration.
Meanwhile, Jason has taken at the less than stellar custodianship of the Monkey Island franchise in an article titled "The Poxy Custodianship of Monkey Island," which also could be the title of Monkey Island 7.
Meanwhile, Tim tells us -- well, not us us -- that they cut 25% of dialogue from The Secret of Monkey Island. Twenty-five is, apparently, the magic number this week.
Elsewhere, Zak is available on Prime Gaming.
In Case You Missed In
I mean, you didn't, but here is a collection of the last few weeks news.
Grog! Grog! Grog!
elTee, Mojo’s resident mixologist, once again raids his liquor cabinet pantry. This time: How to brew a perfect drip coffee.
You need:
A food scale.
Preferably a coffee grinder—Virtuoso+ is our pick. You can always go with store-ground beans, too.
A coffee maker: We’re partial to Bonavita’s eight-cup model. (Note that it often goes on sale.)
For this example, we’ll go with eight cups:
Grind 65 grams of beans on the 18-setting. A fine grind, though not as extreme as powder coffee.
Pour water into the maker until it hits the 8-cup line. Right around 1,300 milliliters.
If you use a paper filter, you’ll want to give it a quick rinse.
Add the grounds to the filter and click the start button. Between 198°-205° F (92°-96° C) is the industry standard.
