Now that the Return to Monkey Island fever has passed, I’m going to be getting back to my Monkey Island marathon that was rudely cut short by the most excellent new game’s release.
Up tonight: The Curse of Monkey Island. Widely beloved and a particular favourite [¬¬ - Remi] of Mojo pawn Remi, it’s the game I’ve always considered my favourite in the series. But times have changed since I last played it. Does it still look as good as a Disney movie? Is the music still as rich and lively as I remember? Is Murray truly at his most demonic? We‘ll soon find out.
Once I get through the whole series, I’ll give Return a second play. Many dialogue choices only appear once, and our forums have revealed plenty of details I missed. It’ll be nice not opening the hint book every five minutes too.
News From All Over
Monday marks Return to Monkey Island's three-week anniversary, and we will veeeeeery slowly and veeeeeeeeeeeeeery non-spoilery start tweeting out some trivia from the game. Which is to say, we won't tweet actual screenshots, but rather a video with a long spoiler warning that will ultimately show the image and optionally some text. Links will be clearly marked, so you don't accidentally tap them. For those who have finished the game, though, there will be some fun surprises to be had.
That aside, here's a look at the week that passed:
Our IT department has hacked its way into the ReMI code and extracted all the music from the game. Download the OGG files or set aside four hours to listen to hundred-and-forty tracks of awesomeness.
It was supposed to be a quiet beta release, but as Ron couldn't control his excitement, we were forced to make it public: The Return to Monkey Island Trivia Card Game is a hundred-question quiz based on the trivia cards within ReMI. Think you got what it takes? Give it a go!
On a sad note: Rogue Leaders author Rob Smith has passed away. Rest in peace.
