The Adventurer - Issue #4
Can you believe we've been doing this for a month? It’s The Adventurer: Every week, we send an email full of news, media, and who-knows-what (we don’t) – make sure to share all the fun with your friends and loved ones!
The Editor Welcomes You
This week has seen the clamouring for more information about Return to Monkey Island grow into a full-blown frenzy, with every aspect of the series being torn apart and analysed on our forums. If a line of dialogue written 30 years ago is still subject to interpretation, you can bet we’re all over it. We’ve even been reading old Amiga and Atari reviews of The Secret of Monkey Island to determine whether or not these games are even good. Thankfully there have been some new ReMI insights to digest, as you’ll find out below.
Week in Review
It's still before the storm as some may say, but we can see the thunderstorm known as Return to Monkey Island starting to slowly roll in. And, there is non-ReMI news dropping in, too. To wit:
Prime Gaming Is Cursed
By Monkey Island: Every millennial's favorite game, Curse of Monkey Island, is now available on Prime. Some Amazon bigwig even claimed to "love, love, love this title," so there you go.
samandmax.net Returns
You may remember the Mojo-hosted fansite The Unofficial Sam & Max Website, which was a haven for Sam & Max aficionados back in the day. Well, the site is back, not with a lot of actual content, but with some sexy-looking pointers to official Sam & Max resources.
Sam & Max VR Also Returns
Another limited edition is on the way: LRG is releasing an enticing-looking box filled with This Time It's Virtual content. Even if you don't own a VR headset, the stash may nonetheless be worth the $70-$80 price tag.
And The SCUMM Bar Returns, Too
That's right, the longest-running LucasArts-adventure site on the web has converted its front page to a ReMI resource center. Run and look.
Ron And Dave Are All About Chatting
This time with IGN. Not a whole lot is revealed, but you do get some words from art-director Rex Crowle. (And let it be said: I'm all in as far as the art style goes.)
Breaking News!
Two minutes before publication, both Sam & Max Limited Runs went live. Run and order -- you don't really need to buy toilet paper this week, anyway.
Poll of The Week
We asked on Twitter: "What platform did you first place [sic] MI1 on? (Twitter maxes out on four choices, alas. 🤷♀️)" PC took it home with 65%; Amiga and Atari got 28.5%. Other (Mac, consoles, iOS, etc.) ended up on 5%. And CDTV? 1.5%. Hmmm...
Grumpy Blog Post of The Week
We thought the LucasArts-adventure community was devoid of toxic fandom, but alas, that's not the case.
After a comment blowback over at his blog, Ronzo "Ron" Gilbert had to sit down and write "When I Made Another Monkey Island," a companion piece to his nine-year-old "If I Made Another Monkey Island." He lays out some basic facts about Return to Monkey Island and its history in an article that shouldn't have had to be a necessity to write.
Here at Mojo, we're all about positive discussions. Sometimes critical? Sure. Somewhat cynical? Of course. Slightly caustic? Obviously. But, in the end, it's all in good fun, which is a roundabout way to say: Check out our Return to Monkey Island forum post for all kinds of chatter -- 700+ replies and counting!

Grog! Grog! Grog!
elTee, Mojo’s resident mixologist, once again raids his liquor cabinet. This time: Hurricane.
1 ounce white rum
1 ounce gold rum
½ ounce passion fruit syrup
½ ounce lime juice
Combine all ingredients in a shaker filled with ice. Shake until combined and strain into a chilled glass. Garnish with fruit.
