Mojo forum-goer Toymafia88 correctly pointed out yesterday that when there’s a lack of news, the Monkey Island community inevitably starts asking ‘Was Escape from Monkey Island good?’ and ‘What is the secret of Monkey Island?’.
Well, if only you saw the community during the Monkey Island news drought of… the entire 2010s. From ancient unsupported graphics modes to Guybrush’s gender, no stone was left unturned. At least we have that to look forward to once this all blows over.
Week in Review
It's still before the storm: Next week is Summer Game Fest and there are whispers of the debut of a Return to Monkey Island trailer. (Granted, "whispers" mostly mean "idle tweets," but we're not above going tabloid about this.) That aside:
GamesBeat sits down for a chat with Rex Crowle. Mojo's Editorial Board has long since endorsed the art director's take on the Monkey Island universe, so reading more about the man's vision is very worthwhile.
Escape from Monkey Island is the Prime Gaming freebie this month. I know, right? Let's be honest, you will want to finish all five games before ReMI hits whatever platforms it will hit.
KOTOR II is coming to the Switch. So, there's that.

We decided to just get the obvious out of the way: Which version of The Secret of Monkey Island is the ultimate one: EGA (🥱) or Amiga (🙌)? Obviously the Amiga took it home with a cool 52.2%. Why? Because Monkey Island fans are more often than not people of exquisite taste.

elTee, Mojo’s resident mixologist, once again raids his liquor cabinet. This time: Espresso martini.
1 fluid ounce vanilla-flavored vodka
2 fluid ounces coffee-flavored liqueur
1 fluid ounce of cream or milk
1 cup crushed ice
Combine vodka, coffee liqueur, cream, and crushed ice in a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously to chill. Pour into martini glasses, and serve.
