OK, look, I get it – in the previous issue, I said The Secret of Monkey Island turns 30 this year. I did, of course, mean 25. Or 35. I don’t know, whatever 2025 - 1990 is. After a certain while, years start melding together. Oldhood is a real thing if not a real word. Besides, the Amiga version was released in 1991, and that is what counts. Let’s move on and never speak of this again.

Breaking: Ron Announces His Next Game
It’s called Death by Scrolling and is scheduled for a 2025 release. And as it uses the now-abandoned-for-now RPGTBD’s tile set, it looks really quite nice.
I’ll admit that I have no clue what the game is, but I’m sure it’ll be fun. It looks fun. Go read the ol’ Grumpy Gamer blog for more.
Speaking of Blogging
Grumpy Gamer has become quite active again after Ron updated its backend. In an era where social media has increasingly become 🫠, it’s great to see actual writing making a comeback. Which, of course, is why Mojo is your daily read. And The SCUMM Bar. Quality writing for quality people.
Democracy Fails Us, Yet Again
You were close, voting in our “Which Schafer-headed Double Fine game is your favorite?” poll. 37% of you went with Psychonauts; Psychonauts 2 clocked in at 30%. The result should have been the opposite, but whatever, we’ll forgive you this once.
Both Brütal Legend and Broken Age received 17% of the votes, while Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster got zilch. What can you do? Probably just put together a new poll:
Back to Psychonauts 2
Spoiler for a three-and-a-half-year-old game coming up in this week’s trivia.
You might not want to keep reading if you haven’t played Psychonauts 2.
Even though the spoiler really isn’t that big.
(Spoiler.)
(Minor spoiler, really.)
After you finish the main game, there is still a lot of exploration to be done in Psychonauts 2. One of the more interesting nuggets of information you can find is that Dr. Caligosto Loboto has a kid at Whispering Rock. Who can it be? Surname aside, Bobby Zilch looks to be a fan favorite.
Conversely, it sort of seems like a Psychonauts 3 would return you to camp going by the many post-main-game dialogue interactions. Finding Helmut Fullbear’s body is another possibility. Or both. We’ll see what Double Fine brings next.
