Issue #64: Sweet Dreams
Not every title can be a gem. Nor can every newsletter. But here we are, all the same.đ¤ˇ

Dream a Little Dream of Pipes
Youâre already following Laserschwertâs LucasArts Posters project, but if you havenât checked it out in the past few days, you will have missed the recent addition of Pipe Dream.

Pipe Dream is one of Steve Purcellâs more forgotten covers, presumably because itâs from a non-adventure game. Oh, and fun-ish fact, what with this being issue #64 of The Adventurer and all: Pipe Dream on the Commodore 64 was the first Lucasfilm Games game I played. (Better remember thatâitâll probably be useful in a trivia contest one of these days.)
Trivia of the DayâGulletâs Twin: Mullet
There are a bunch of small scenes that are easily missed in Return to Monkey Island. For example, after you disguise yourself as Gullet on LeShip off Monkey Island, you can climb down the rudder and meet âyourself.â
There are a bunch of fun dialogue optionsâall in the video aboveâand my personal favorite is the revelation of Mullet, Gulletâs twin. I mean, come on!
El Poll Diablo
Yet again, I have to question democracy, at least if our last poll is anything to go by.
We asked: âYou can only listen to one soundtrack on repeat: Which do you choose?â 15% of you said Loom, while 19% picked Outlaws (the correct answer, letâs be honest). 22% went with The Dig (also an acceptable answer), with the rest of youâforty-four percentâcrowning the Atari ST version of The Secret of Monkey Island the winner. Maybe the ST part was lost on some peopleâthree channels of beeps? I donât even know.
As for todayâs poll:
Collecting some important demographic data here.
In Case You Missed It
Itâs been posted everywhere else, so why not post it here, too? University students trying to wrap their little minds around SCUMM.
Kids. No respect for history.
In Case You Missed It: Part 2
Ackley and Ahernâaka, The Curse of Monkey Island project leadsâpre-announced a new game!
A surprise post today! My design partner of "The Curse of Monkey Island" Larry Ahern and I have been developing a new comedy narrative adventure. Our development team is ready to roll, and we'd love to meet with potential publishing partners. Hit me up if you'd like to talk!
Weâll see what happens. The one thing Ackley did confirm was that Tiller would not be working on it. (He is, of course, deep into developing A Vampyre Story 2.)
A Highlight Indeed
The two Cool Guys of Gaming⢠together again!
Basically proof that Maniac Mansion 3: Day of the Tentacle 2 is in production.
Last Weekâs Mojole Results
Itâs the game that sweeps the nation! Can you beat Mojole, our fiendishly difficult daily puzzler? Only hardcore LucasArts aficionados need apply.
12 Mar: âraster#â â It's related to raster images. I mean, duh.
13 Mar: â1988###â â I already used 'Frantic' -- anyway, let's talk about the game that shares names with the 1988 movie 'Frantic!'
14 Mar: â174####â â At the time of writing, it has 174 entries.
15 Mar: â64#####â â Yesterday was entry #64.
16 Mar: â110####â â So two days ago there were 110 entries left.
17 Mar: âmore###â â More to come, of course!
18 Mar: âmif####â â We have MI1 and MI2, so I feel we should call Monkey Island Frantic MIF, really.
And for the competitive amongst you, the Mojole forum thread has gone strong for more than two years. The two juggernauts to beat: Sushi and Huz.
