Ah yes, our incessant whining has finally paid off: Double Fine announced their new game, Keeper, giving Mojo a reason to live for another few months. In other words, the same way we’ve existed since approximately 2003. Hell, Ron’s Death by Scrolling seems to be making some headway, too, but does not have a firm release date yet. (Keeper will hit the floor running on October 17th.)
And, with that, let’s see what is happening in the wonderful world of Mojo.

Some Quick Thoughts on Keeper
First, if you haven’t checked out our news post on the announcement yet, do so now, and enjoy the rather eye-catching trailer.
Led by Lee Petty – you know him from RAD, Headlander, and Stacking – the game sure looks and sounds the part, dripping with atmosphere. Even by these few clips, Keeper appears to be set in a fully realized world.
At the same time, we know preciously little about the gameplay. Even disgraced former Mojo editor Spaff’s excellent news post over on Double Fine reveals little about what the game actually is from a player’s perspective. Puzzle centric, definitely, with a pinch of platforming thrown in, a combination that is well suited for the Mojoverse. The mechanisms, though, are still a question mark.
I am intrigued about the Pandemic-slanted angle. It’s easy to identify with Petty’s introspective hikes during the lockdowns – check Xbox Wire for more – and, weirdly, I feel echoes of similar experiences I had during that period. (Granted, they didn’t involve lighthouses coming alive, but I did at one point hike up to a lighthouse. Maybe that’s why I feel some sort of connection here.)
And, again, cripes on toast the game looks good…
… and I choose to expect something great. Keeper promises to be both fun and quirky.
We’ll find out what’s truly what on October 17th. The game will be available on, and I quote: “Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, Xbox Cloud, Steam, and will be playable on day one Game Pass.” If Steam’s your jam, run and wishlist it.

El Poll Diablo
Last week we asked, “Should Mojo cover more Star Wars?” 25% of you said we should, while 50% correctly said we shouldn’t. The rest felt we should stop covering Star Wars altogether, which, frankly, is my opinion, too, but it’s a battle I probably would lose.
Today’s predictable question:
