So, here we are, another Mojoversery done and dusted, and Mojo is melting through its 28th summer. Our British staff is complaining loudly – as they are wont to do – and I can’t help but think of Kent Brockman’s sage words:
Could this record-breaking heat wave be the result of the dreaded greenhouse effect? Well, if 70-degree days in the middle of winter are the 'price' of car pollution, you'll forgive me if I keep my old Pontiac.
Actually, maybe it is time to get rid of that Pontiac…
That aside, I don’t have much else – the dog days of summer are slow – so let’s roll into the meat of it.
Remi
Ron Enters the J.D. Salinger Phase of His Career
As Death by Scrolling is nearing completion, Ronzo has taken to his blog to post a few updates. Nothing about the game as such, but of note:
I have found that as I get older I enjoy pontificating less and less. I’ve stopped doing talks, doing interviews and podcasts.
Don’t stay tuned for a Mojo interview, I guess, but why not relive elTee and Marius’ chat with the man (and Dave G, too!) from back in the pre-ReMI days?
That Special Edition
Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge Special Edition recently turned fifteen (🫠), and while you wait for whatever we’re cooking up to commemorate Mojo’s sole-ish box credit1, enjoy some horn tooting.
Chuck Jordan Rocks Out
Show me someone who claims not to like The Curse of Monkey Island’s soundtrack and I’ll show you an idiot. Or however the saying goes. Either way, Curse co-writer Chuck Jordan is no idiot, and in case you need proof, look no further than Bluesky.
No offense intended to Dom and every offense intended to me, but the music in the barber shop in Monkey Island 3 is some of the best in video games, and it’s a shame you can rarely hear it without too much over-written dialogue playing on top.
Also, no shame on Chuck for his contribution, either. This is as good of time as any to relive the Curse soundtrack, and particularly the barbershop cues from Chuck’s Bluesky post.
Meanwhile, for the Psychonauts 2 and Adventure Time Fans
For those in the mood for a weird easter egg:
If you re-enter Hollis’s brain after you complete the initial playthrough, you’ll find a large pen in the maternity ward. Grab it and throw it at the “Ward” sign, and you’ll get a weird scene animated and voiced by Adventure Time creator, Pendleton Ward (get it?!).
El Poll Diablo
Is Stan Guybrush’s father? We asked and you answered: 11% said yes, 37% said no, and 53% asked if this is really what it has come to? The latter response is probably the correct one.
